NZ Service Rifle Team & their story!

For those of you that have shown interest and asked how the trip went, here are some pictures and part of their story.!

A great time was had by all

Here the NZ men are sorting, weighing and measuring all their ammo They were only allowed to bring with them from NZ a small amount of ammo, so they had to purchased what they needed when they arrived. So before using it in the competition every round has to be sorted for accuracy purposes..everything counts so all the hard work here is what pays off in the end!

Warm up time!
On the Range on the competition days.

Here you can see the long line of shooters There are another two rows behind, one waiting their turn, and one just finished their turn!

Interesting signs for sure! taken while on their road trip

Got a few fun things in

Had a play and drive in this tank!

Time to rest. On many of their road trips it was time to catch up on that will missed sleep!

There were 10 New Zealand shooters!

Over All ! Matt came 16th, Jamie came 28th, Gerry ( hubby) came in at 84th, Kevin 74th and D Von E 99th place. So half the team were in the top 100.

The aim was to come in the top 100, so it was a wonderful achievements to find two had come in the top 50!

Hubby come home with three medals in total, one for a1st place, one for 84th place and a third place! so well done!

NZ Service Rifle Team off to South Africa

( Hubby is one of the competitors )

The New Zealand team is doing very well. 5 of the team are in the top 100 shooters. 2 of that 5 are in the top 50 shooters, so a great achievement for our team representing NZ! The last time I heard hubby is around 78th and has even won himself a third play getting himself a bronze medal. so that is a major achievement!

Photos of his trip will be added after the 13th when he has returned home and I have had time to get his photos down loaded and sized ready for up loading!

30th April 2007

Hubby is doing well! Thanks for all the email wishing him well.

His first shoot he came 78th out of 298 shooters, so he is doing well. He and his team hope to be in the top 100 shooters by the end of the competition! They would like to do better but here in NZ shooting is a hobby sport, not like in the other countries competing. So the competition is at the very top of the top shooters! Wonderful experience for the NZ shooters! They enjoyed socializing with the South African team and the Dutch team! Everyone is very friendly. The army and police have been absolutely wonderful.

One week down, two more to go!
