A little about my love of dolls and toys

As a child, I always admired the toys in the windows of toy shops as one does when they can just see past the window ledge. With eyes popping out and a big smile on my face, my mum would see me and say 'I can make that for you'. And she would! My mum would make all kinds of clothes for my sisters and my dolls. As a seamstress she was able to create clothes that were different from all others, and doll-playing was so exciting when we came home from school to new clothes and extras she had designed.

My dad used to make dolls' houses, furniture, and loads of blocks. There were always plenty of dolls, dolls' clothes and toys around for my 11 brothers, sisters and myself to spend hours playing.

I would have to say that my love of dolls and toys came from all the great memories of playing, creating and watching as a child.

My own children have had to put up with being dragged into toyshops with their mother all times of the day and all year round. Even now they have grown up and cannot be used as an excuse for looking, admiring and purchasing dolls and toys. I have had to be creative with my reasons...Looking forward to when I have grandchildren to enjoy and share these wonderful shops with!
